About the choir

Welcome

Welcome! Based in New Mills in the beautiful Peak District, High Peak Singers is a friendly and welcoming community choir directed by award-winning conductor Hannah Brine.

Hannah’s choirs have performed at the BBC Proms, Royal Variety Show, Olivier Awards and many other events. She was awarded an inaugural BBC Unsung Hero Award in 2015 for her work with community choirs.

We believe everyone can sing, and as a trained singing teacher Hannah can help you to gain confidence and control using your voice.

Everyone aged 18+ is welcome. You don’t need to have any previous singing experience. There are no formal auditions, but we may ask you to take an ear test, either when you join or at some point later in your choir membership, and we may recommend that you take singing or music theory lessons. Choral singing skills take a little while to build up, but like any language the more we immerse ourselves, the more fluent we become.
